On October 15, 2019, Dennis Itumbi and his colleague Samwel Gateri Wanjiru appeared before Magistrate Martha Mutuku, denying the charges against them.

Itumbi, who was released on a KSh 100,000 bond on July 10, 2019, after being detained for several days, was re-arrested on fresh charges of drafting a letter linked to claims of an assassination plot against Deputy President William Ruto.

The letter, which was published online on June 20, 2019, alleged that there was a plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto.

Itumbi claimed to have a video showing the ministers involved in the alleged plot, including James Macharia (Health), Joseph Mucheru (ICT), Sicily Kariuki (Health), and Peter Munya (Trade).

The ministers denied the allegations, stating that they had no basis for the claims.

The case was adjourned to October 23, 2019, and was later rescheduled to November 18, 2019.

William Ruto is a key figure in the Kenyan government, serving as the Deputy President of Kenya.
