On October 15, 2019, a violent confrontation erupted in Malindi when Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, accompanied by her lover Jeff Okute and police officers, stormed an ODM party training session.
The training was being held at the residence of Reuben Mwamure Katana, and the victim, an uncle to ODM's aspirant in the Ganda by-election, lost his life in the chaos.
According to reports, the police arrived at the scene to find protesters engaged in running battles, demanding justice for the slain agent.
A Twitter user, King Fred Asira, condemned the incident, stating, 'Aisha Jumwa cannot be allowed to thrive in chaos and killings. She together with all those involved in the murder of Gumbao Jola must be brought to book.'
It is worth noting that this incident occurred after Aisha Jumwa had threatened ODM officials, including supporters, with dire consequences just days prior.
