On October 15, 2019, a dramatic scene unfolded in court as Maryanne Kitany's lawyer, Mithika Linturi, witnessed one of her bodyguards entering the courtroom with a gun.

Linturi claimed that the bodyguard had broken the law by bringing a firearm into the courtroom.

However, in his defense, Linturi stated that the bodyguard had been justified in carrying a gun as Kitany's life was under threat.

"Maryanne's life is at risk, so she decided to take measures to protect herself, including arming her bodyguards," Linturi said.

Kitany and her husband, Mithika Linturi, have been embroiled in a bitter divorce battle for several months, with their case being heard in court.
