On 15 October 2019, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) issued a statement accusing Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) supporters of attacking Jubilee flag bearer McDonald Mariga during the Kibra parliamentary seat contest.
The IEBC alleged that ODM party supporters disrupted Mariga's campaigns and vandalized his campaign vehicle. The commission also accused ODM leaders of instigating chaos and planning to disrupt the Kibra poll scheduled for 7 November.
The IEBC based its accusations on the Electoral Code of Conduct of the Elections Act 2011.
