Published on October 15, 2019, Sarah Wairimu Cohen has filed an application at the High Court seeking to have Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti detained for contempt of court.
According to the application, Sarah claimed that the DCI disobeyed court orders issued on September 16, 2019, by inferring her guilt in the murder case of her husband Tob Cohen.
High Court Judge Jessie Lessit had last month barred the DCI as well as the prosecution from addressing the media on the investigations and evidence in the murder of the Dutch tycoon.
Through her lawyer Phillip Murgor, Sarah argued that DCI Kinoti disregarded the court orders by implying her guilt, which was further exacerbated by State Prosecutor Juma Victor Owiti publishing an article on his Facebook page disguised as an academic post.
The court stated that the application to have DCI Kinoti detained, in which State Prosecutor Juma Victor Owiti and a journalist are also named, will be heard on October 30.
It is worth noting that Sarah denied one charge of killing her husband Tob Cohen and is out on a cash bail of Ksh. 2 million.
