On October 15, 2019, a head teacher at Zedekiah Oduma Academy in Bondo, Siaya County, was arrested for failing to register some of the school's KCPE candidates for this year's final exams.

Parents of three pupils discovered that the school had not registered their children for the final exams despite having paid for it early in the year.

According to Bondo Sub-county Police Commander Anthony Wafula, the head teacher was arrested after the parents reported the matter to the Ministry of Education and police.

One of the parents, Mr. Vincent Omenda, said he discovered that his son was not registered for the KCPE examination last week on Friday.

Mr. Omenda's son reported to him that he was required to pay Ksh.2,800 to be registered for his KCPE exams from failure to which he would be locked out of the national examination.
