October 14th saw the announcement of Mary Wambui's appointment as the head of the National Employment Authority in a gazette notice by Labor Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani.
The move has sparked widespread criticism on social media, with many questioning whether Wambui's appointment was based on merit and her ability to address the country's high youth unemployment.
Some have raised concerns over Wambui's academic credentials, which have been described as 'mysterious', and whether she has the interest of millions of unemployed youth in the country at heart.
Others have questioned the role and mandate of the National Employment Authority, established through the National Employment Authority Act 2016, and its achievements since its inception.
Former presidential aspirant Mohamed Abduba Dida tweeted: "When you think you have seen it all, the government pulls another one."
