On October 15, 2019, Tunisian MP Zouheir Makhlouf appeared in court over a video that had gone viral on social media, allegedly showing him masturbating outside a school.
Makhlouf, a member of the Qalb Tounes party, represents the coastal town of Nabeul and was elected as a newly-elected MP.
According to reports, the video prompted a wave of testimonies from women who shared their experiences of sexual harassment under the hashtag Ena-Zeda, meaning Me Too in the Tunisian dialect.
Makhlouf denied the allegations, stating that he was diabetic and was urinating into a bottle in the video.
