Brigid Kosgei, the 25-year-old Kenyan marathon champion, has been making waves in the athletics world with her impressive performances. In a recent interview, she expressed her gratitude for the nomination, saying, 'I am humbled to be nominated for this prestigious award.'
On October 13, 2019, Kosgei set a new world record in the IAAF Gold Label road race in Chicago, finishing with a time of 2:14:04. This achievement came just a day after Eliud Kipchoge, another Kenyan athlete, became the first person to run 42 kilometers in under two hours.
Kosgei will be competing against other top female athletes from around the world, including Dallilah Muhammad from the USA, Sifan Hassan from Ethiopia, and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce from Jamaica, among others.
