On October 15, 2019, the prosecution consolidated the cases of Dennis Itumbi and Samuel Gateri, who were arrested months prior.
They have pleaded not guilty to charges of publishing a false statement contrary to the law.
According to the allegations, on or before June 20, they published a letter dated May 30, 2019, with the intent to cause anxiety to the general public peace.
Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku has maintained the earlier cash bail terms, and the case will be heard on November 18.
Dennis Itumbi was arrested in July 2019, in a scene captured on video, showing a convoy of cars around 680 Hotel, believed to belong to police.
He was nabbed on Kenyatta Avenue, and the video was taken by one of his friends who was with him at the time of the arrest.
