Supportive Wives: Eliud Kipchoge's Counterparts ¶
While Eliud Kipchoge's wife, Grace Sugutt, has been a constant presence at his races, there are several sportsmen whose wives left them due to infidelity and other issues.
One such athlete is Asbel Kiprop, a three-time World 1,500 meters champion who was caught in a compromising situation with a married woman identified as Nancy Rotich.
Not long after the scandal, Kiprop was banned over doping allegations. In a tell-it-all interview, Kiprop revealed that his wife of six years had walked out of their matrimonial home in Eldoret after a video of his escapades with his lover leaked on social media.
Another athlete who has faced similar issues is David Rudisha, a two-time Olympic champion who recently opened up on his battle with alcoholism and divorce from his wife of many years, Elizabeth Naanyu, in 2016.
Additionally, Dennis Oliech, a prominent Kenyan footballer, was dumped by his long-time girlfriend and TV personality Paulah Mumia, who accused him of being unfaithful and selfish.
These cases highlight the challenges that sportsmen face in maintaining healthy relationships, despite their fame and success.
