On October 15, 2019, Equity Bank marked its 35th birthday by celebrating its partnership with the government of Nyandarua County to empower small-scale farmers.

The bank's Ol Kalou branch manager, Pius Kaniaru, revealed that over 3,000 farmers had received free agribusiness training, while more than 4,000 others had received financial support to improve their farming activities.

"In partnership with the county government, we want to empower farmers so that they can engage in meaningful farming activities," said Mr Kaniaru. "We have identified skills, financial support, and financial illiteracy as critical components and challenges facing Nyandarua farmers, despite this being an agricultural county," he added.

The bank has also partnered with the county in areas such as health, education, and environment, and has supported the education of over 150 students from poor backgrounds.

Nyandarua finance executive member Mary Mugwanja praised the bank's efforts, saying, "The ongoing agribusiness training programme has a special package on financial management and investment skills." She also announced that the government would increase the bursary kitty from Sh100 million to Sh120 million in the next financial year.
