On October 13, 2019, Harambee Stars suffered a 1-0 defeat to Mozambique at Kasarani Stadium in an international friendly match.
Coach Francis Kimanzi, who took over the team in August, expressed satisfaction with the team's performance despite the loss.
"We had a better first half, we did a good job and created some good opportunities to kill off the game too early but I think we waited too long until we were punished," Kimanzi said.
The defeat came as Harambee Stars prepared for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers, with their first match against Egypt scheduled for November 11.
Kenya will also host Togo at Kasarani Stadium on November 19.
Coach Kimanzi acknowledged that the team still has a lot of work to do ahead of the qualifiers.
"The only part we got it wrong is when a younger player makes such a mistake at this level for sure you will be punished," Kimanzi said.
Despite the loss, Kimanzi expressed confidence in the team's rebuilding process.
