On October 14, 2019, Nairobi tycoon Agnes Kagure made headlines with her extreme views on homosexuality during a surprise visit to a Ruaraka market.
According to reports, Kagure was on an inspection tour of her properties in the area when she overheard heated discussions about the legalization of homosexuality in Kenya.
She then organized a funds drive at the market, where she openly condemned homosexuality, calling for the death penalty or public stoning for those found guilty.
She also suggested that those who abet the practice should be held culpable, just like those who aid in criminal activities.
Kagure, a wealthy businesswoman with a reputation for controversy, has been linked to the Building Bridges Taskforce and has previously made headlines for her recommendations on electoral reforms.
With her comments on homosexuality, some are questioning whether she would be viable candidate for the Nairobi governorship in 2022, as she is reportedly being fronted by central Kenya oligarchs and Nairobi's Muthaiga club of tycoons.
