On October 15, 2019, a court granted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations permission to detain Michael Nyangweso Eunyusatsi for seven days pending investigations.

Nyangweso, a private security guard employed by Radar Security Services, allegedly aided carjackers in withdrawing Sh 22,000 from a Family Bank account in Utawala.

The money was sent to Nyangweso via Mpesa after a woman was robbed of her phone and forced to disclose her PIN number to the robbers at the bank.

According to Detective George Wamai, Nyangweso transferred the cash to his own account at the bank before withdrawing it.

Nyangweso claimed in court that he helped the carjackers because they told him a customer had a sick wife in the car and needed to make an urgent transaction, but did not have the means.

However, the detective stated that Nyangweso did not know the woman in the car had been abducted.

The carjackers had earlier stolen Sh 6,800 from their victim before bundling her into her car's boot.

After receiving the cash, the men proceeded to Mihang'o area where one of them raped and then abandoned the victim.

The victim is still recuperating at a city hospital.
