Published on October 15, 2019, a court document revealed the extent of the late Fidel Odinga's empire, which has sparked a bitter dispute between his family and his widow, Lwam Bekelle.

Fidel Odinga, Raila Odinga's firstborn, died on January 4, 2015, after a night out with friends, leaving behind a 41-year-old son, Allay Raila Odinga.

According to court documents, Fidel's mother, Ida Odinga, and sister, Winnie Odinga, listed 10 properties and seven bank accounts that they claim belonged to Fidel.

The properties include a home at Tipuana Park, a house in Karen, three parcels of land in Kisumu and Kajiado, and shares in Axum Investments Limited and Ambesa Investments Limited.

Ida and Winnie also listed several vehicles, including two Range Rovers, a Nissan Sunny, and a Mercedes Benz.

However, Lwam Bekelle, Fidel's widow, denies knowledge of some of the properties and bank accounts listed by Ida and Winnie.

She claims that the Karen home was held under a joint tenancy with herself and Fidel and that the account at Gulf Bank was jointly operated between her and Fidel.

Lwam also argues that upon Fidel's demise, the property automatically reverted to her ownership, and therefore, it does not form part of Fidel's estate.
