Leonard Mambo Mbotela, a well-known Kenyan radio personality, has a story to tell about outsmarting a con artist. The incident occurred when a young man visited Mbotela's house, claiming that his grandmother was in the hospital and needed Sh150,000 for medical bills.

According to Mbotela, the young man asked for Sh10,000 to help settle the bill, but Mbotela was not convinced. He decided to investigate further and called his aunt to verify the information.

His aunt confirmed that the grandmother was indeed sick, but the hospital bill had already been settled. Furthermore, the grandmother had passed away two weeks prior and was buried. Mbotela's aunt also warned him that the young man was known to be deceptive.

Mbotela shared his story on the web series 'Janjaruka,' which focuses on con artists in Nairobi. He revealed that the young man returned after two days, expecting to receive the money, but Mbotela told him to look for work and earn money honestly. To date, Mbotela has not seen the young man again.
