Published on October 15, 2019, Simon Ngige, a golfer from Thika Golf Club, maintained his impressive form at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club, following his first round score of 3-under par with a one-under par round of 71 in the second round, securing a five-shot lead on a gross score of 4-under par, 140, heading into the penultimate round.

Ngige's round started with a bogey on the par-4 first hole, but he recovered with back-to-back pars and a birdie on the fourth hole. He carded a turning score of one-under par, 35, after a birdie on the par-5 seventh hole. However, he struggled through the back nine, hitting bogeys on the 11th, 14th, and 18th holes, but managed to hold par through the rest of the holes.

Ngige's closest competitors, David Wakhu from Golf Park, Erick Ooko from Royal Golf Club, and Mohit Mediratta from Sigona Golf Club, are five shots behind him after playing rounds of 1-over par, 4-over par, and 3-over par, respectively.

Uganda's Brian Toolit played a tournament-leading score of 4-under par, 68, but failed to make the cut, which was set at 7 over par, after playing an opening round of 12 over par, taking his gross score to 8 over par.

Twenty-one players, including one amateur, made the cut to play in the third and fourth rounds, including Dismas Indiza, Rizwan Charania, and amateur Daniel Nduva.

Round three action tees off at 8:30 am, with the professionals aiming for a stake of the Sh1 million prize kitty.
