West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo and his critic Dennis Ruto Kapchok, popularly known as 'Mulmulwas', have put aside their differences after a peace deal brokered by elders and family members.
The peace deal was facilitated by Kapchok's father William Lopetakou, elders, and other family members, including former Kacheliba MP Peter Nang'ole, nominated Ward Representative Josephine Cheprum, and retired chief Zacharia Loripo.
According to Kapchok, he made the decision to tone down his criticism of the governor after being persuaded to do so by his father and other family members.
He stated that he made the about-turn 'because the governor and the devolved government I have been fighting are now on the right track.'
Earlier this year, Kapchok launched the Mulmulwas Movement in Kapenguria, which gained popularity after Governor Lonyangapuo referred to him as 'Mulmulwas', meaning a round object.
Local musicians even composed songs in praise of 'Mulmulwas', but Kapchok has now expressed his readiness to work with the governor.
He stated that he has been raising critical issues which required the attention of Governor Lonyangapuo, and most of the matters have been addressed.
One of the issues he has been raising is the bad condition and poor services at Kapenguria Referral Hospital.
On Deputy Governor Nicholas Atundonyang, who has been out of the country for two years, Kapchok called on the Senate to summon him.
He stated that Dr. Atundonyang has gone back on the contract he had with voters and should either resign or return immediately.
