On October 14, 2019, the Kenya Defense Forces marked their 8th anniversary of the celebration at Langata Army Barracks. The event was attended by Defense CS Rachel Omamo, who honored gallant officers and servicemen for their acts of valor and sacrifices in defending the country's borders.
As part of the celebration, a monument with the names of soldiers who have died while defending the country was unveiled. The monument features symbolic soldiers' boots and hat, commemorating the sacrifices and success by KDF officers.
Omamo expressed her gratitude for the work done by the soldiers and called on civilians to always respect the military officers and service members. She also emphasized the need for continued improvement of the welfare of the soldiers and their families.
Chief of Defense Forces Samson Mwathethe revealed that an ultra-modern rehabilitation center was built at the barracks to treat soldiers with post-traumatic disorder and injuries sustained in the battlefield. The center aims to provide psycho-social support to officers and service members who are battling injuries and dealing with trauma.
