Published on October 14, 2019, a web series called Living Big in a Tiny House showcased a remarkable tiny house on wheels in Austin, Texas. The house, owned by young couple Molly and Ken, is a testament to the idea that tiny home living doesn't have to mean sacrificing comfort and luxury.
The couple took out a tiny house loan to complete their home, which they managed to do with a budget of just under $80,000. Their only real expense now is the minimal rent at the R.V. park where their house is situated.
Measuring 267 square feet with an 11.5-foot high ceiling, the house boasts a bright and airy design, filled with plants and natural light. In addition to windows on every side, there are also three large skylights to bring in even more light.
The living area features a huge couch with storage bins under each cushion, a pull-down projector screen for game nights, and a separate loft level for extra storage. The house also has a whole staircase leading up to the bedroom level, which is a rare feature in tiny houses. The staircase has a cupboard under it and the first three steps open up into compartments, providing ample storage space.
The bathroom is equipped with a fully functional toilet, a rainfall shower, and a non-compost toilet. However, the crowning achievement of the house is the sauna, which is a tight fit but a must-have for the couple. Paired with the insulation in every wall, the sauna helps keep the couple toasty during the colder months.
