On October 14, 2019, a 21-year-old woman withdrew her charges against a 32-year-old tout accused of raping her after he duped her into cleaning his clothes at his house in Pipeline estate, Embakasi.
The woman had initially accused Peres Katundu Wambua of raping her on September 30, 2019, after he allegedly asked her to accompany him to his house to clean his children's clothes for pay.
Wambua denied all the charges when he was arraigned before chief magistrate Heston Nyaga, claiming he was innocent of the alleged rape and indecent act.
However, the woman told the court she had forgiven Wambua and wanted to withdraw the case, but agreed to testify against him should the Director of Public Prosecutions reject her quest to terminate the case.
Wambua is currently out on bond as he awaits a verdict from the Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji, on the matter.
