Published on October 14, 2019, Roger Federer has confirmed his participation in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, a move that could see him win the men's singles gold medal, the only major prize he has yet to obtain.

The Swiss tennis star made the announcement at a promotional event, stating that he had been debating with his team for months about his summer schedule.

"I've been debating with my team for a few weeks now, months actually, what I should do in the summer time (of 2020) after Wimbledon and before the US Open," he said.

Ultimately, Federer's heart decided to play the Olympic Games again, a decision that could bring him one step closer to achieving his goal.
