German football club Hoffenheim is set to tour Kenya in 2020, as part of an effort to promote the German top-flight football league in East Africa.
According to Nairobi News, the trip is expected to take place between June and July 2020, with an international friendly match against the Kenyan Premier League side AFC Leopards reportedly on the cards.
On Monday, Hoffenheim's head of International Business Sebastian Bacher held talks with Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda at the club's secretariat in Nairobi.
"It would be an exciting venture if that was to happen," said a source within the Kenyan club who spoke off the record.
As part of their efforts to boost popularity in East Africa, the Bundesliga has struggled to attract viewers, trailing behind the English Premier League and Spanish La Liga in the region.
Other European clubs, including Hull City and Everton, have previously toured Nairobi and played against local teams, while Spanish giants Seville have also toured Tanzania and played against Simba SC.
