Published on October 14, 2019, Shabana, a National Super League (NSL) side, is facing a deep financial crisis.
The club, which finished ninth last season, is currently relying on well-wishers to honour their matches.
Coach Gilbert Selebwa submitted his resignation letter to the club's management on Monday, citing three months of unpaid salary as his reason for leaving the Kisii-based side.
Selebwa, who joined Shabana last season after they won promotion to NSL from National Division One, expressed his disappointment in a statement to Nation Sport on Monday.
"I have not been paid my salary for about three months now and the management is not ready to pay. I wish the club well as they strive to join the top-tier," Selebwa said.
However, the management has accused Selebwa of inflating the monies owed, claiming that they only owe him Sh400,000, which Selebwa denies.
Assistant coach Vincent Nyaberi will take over in a caretaker role, leading the team in their upcoming league match against Vihiga United at Gusii Stadium on Wednesday.
