Residents of Runda area recounted the harrowing experience, with some narrating how the gang threatened to kill anyone who tried to raise an alarm.
According to eyewitnesses, the gang, armed with machetes, targeted vehicles and tuk tuks, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.
Area residents are now accusing the police of sleeping on the job, with some claiming that the police have gone slow on conducting night patrols.
The incident comes barely a week after a similar attack in Thika town, where a man was murdered by thugs.
Residents are now living in fear, with some areas within Thika being identified as hotspots for gang activity, including Kiandutu and Makongeni.
