On Monday morning, a plane carrying the remains of 28 Kenyans who perished in the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 Max crash landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Exactly seven months after the tragic incident on March 10, 2019, which claimed the lives of 157 passengers, the families of the victims were at the airport waiting for clearance.

Heavily guarded hearses were lined up at the VIP gate, awaiting the arrival of the remains.

According to a preliminary report released in April, the Ethiopian Airlines pilots struggled with a faulty computer system that repeatedly ordered the nose down due to incorrect sensor data.

The same issue was a focus of the preliminary report into the Lion Air crash in Indonesia, which killed 189 people in October 2018.

Asrat Begashaw, the Ethiopian Airlines Corporate Communications Director, stated that there were 33 nationalities on board the ill-fated plane.

Among the victims were notable Kenyans, including Stella Obese, who died alongside her son Adam, and Hussein Swalleh, a prominent Kenyan Football Administrator.

Below are some photos of the victims who lost their lives in the tragic plane crash.
