Confessions: I cheated on him while he was away training

At 28 years old, I found myself in a complicated situation. My boyfriend had been training in one of the uniformed forces for about six months, and we hadn't communicated much during that time. I ended up in a casual relationship with another man, and now I'm one month pregnant with his child. My real boyfriend is coming home in two weeks, and I'm unsure of what to do.

According to readers, I need to be honest with both men about the pregnancy. One reader, Terry Muthoni, advised me to tell the father of my child about the pregnancy first, and then come clean to my ex about having moved on. Another reader, Onyango Outha, suggested that I face my man and tell him the truth, and not consider aborting the child.

However, not everyone agrees on the best course of action. Hilda Boke Mahare, a Counselling Psychology expert, suggested that I could either choose the deceptive way or the right way to handle the situation. She advised me to tell my boyfriend the truth, and not to wait for him to pass out before claiming that he's responsible for the pregnancy.

Simon Anyona, a relationships counsellor, also weighed in on the situation. He advised me to find a way to deal with and live with the pregnancy, and to insist on protected sex in the future to avoid getting into complex situations like this one.

As I navigate this difficult situation, I'm reminded that a pregnancy changes a woman's life drastically, and that I bear the highest responsibility in ensuring total compliance on safe sex precautions.
