Published on October 14, 2019, the Kenya Lionesses secured a spot in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after a stellar performance in the Africa 7s tournament in Tunisia.
Although they lost to South Africa in the final by a single point, the Lionesses earned a ticket to the Olympics due to South Africa's internal rules prohibiting direct qualification from the African Regional Qualifier tournament.
The Lionesses dominated their pool, winning all their matches except the final, and conceded only one try in their 26-5 victory over Zimbabwe in the Cup quarters.
They topped their pool with a 100% record, beating Ghana 36-0, Botswana 49-0, and Senegal 36-0, before defeating Tunisia 19-0 in the semis to set up a final against South Africa.
