Published on October 14, 2019, a report by Huawei's security chief, John Suffolk, revealed that the company faces over a million cyberattacks daily. This staggering number has raised concerns about the security of Huawei's systems and networks.

According to Suffolk, most of the attacks are focused on IP theft, with the company accusing the US government of mounting cyberattacks as part of its concerted campaign against them. Huawei, which leads the world in 5G network innovation and files more patents than any other company, has been at the center of a global cybersecurity debate.

Speaking to the media, Suffolk confirmed that the company has been the target of numerous cyberattacks, including phishing attempts that rely on social engineering to trick employees into installing malware. He also acknowledged that although almost all attacks are defended, some attacks on older systems can get through.

Huawei's CEO, Ren Zhengfei, has stated that if he were ever asked to compromise the company, he would refuse to do so and would close the company down if pressured to do so. This statement comes as the EU report warned that the combination of new technologies and 5G networks risks hostile state control of critical infrastructure, logistics, transportation, and even law enforcement.
