On October 14, 2019, chaos erupted in Kibra, Nairobi, when supporters of Imran Okoth, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) flag bearer, allegedly stoned the convoy of his Jubilee competitor, McDonald Mariga.
According to reports, the incident occurred after locals caught one of Deputy President William Ruto's men with Ksh10 million, which was allegedly being used to buy IDs from targeted Kibra residents.
However, Albert Mwemusi, the head of Communication in Jubilee, rubbished the allegations and strongly condemned the violent act.
Lang'ata Member of Parliament Nixon Korir and his Kikuyu counterpart MP Kimani Ichung'wa were also involved in the violence, with Korir threatening to petition the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to disqualify Imran Okoth for causing violence through his alleged supporters.
The violent trend continued when Jubilee MPs were speaking at the PCEA Emmanuel Church in Makina, with rowdy youth hurling stones and shattering windows.
