On October 11, 2019, Digital Renter, a real estate classifieds platform, was named the best startup in Cameroon at the Seedstars World competition, held at Activespaces in Douala, Cameroon.
Founded by Fongoh M. Tayong, Digital Renter allows users to upload, search, and receive instant notifications on new property postings in the country. According to Tayong, "Running Digital Renter for over 2 years now and interacting with multiple stakeholders has given us deep market/field insight to validate the model; a totally inclusive, social and multi-agent system which works for the real estate market in Africa".
As the winner, Digital Renter will receive an all-inclusive trip to the Seedstars Africa Summit and the chance to win a spot at the Seedstars Global Summit in Switzerland, where the winner will take home a 500K USD investment prize. Additionally, the winner will receive 3 months access to the investment readiness program.
The competition saw 10 selected startups pitch their companies to the judges, including Rebecca Enonchong, Founder, Appstech; Anthony Same, CEO & Founder, ST Digital; Willy Delort HEUBO, Deputy General Manager, Financial Capital and Serge Ntamack, Director of Public Policy, Microsoft.
Other startups that made it to the top 3 were Clinic Plant, with its web/mobile application for diagnosing crop/animal diseases from an image, and VehSeh Inc, with its software to monitor and Control your Business from Anywhere; with an internet independent point of sale.
Seedstars World is currently on its world tour of fast-growing startup scenes in emerging markets, with its next stop being Port – Louis at Turbine, to select the best startup in Mauritius.
