On October 13, 2019, Condé Nast Traveler announced its 2019 Readers' Choice Awards, with Kenya's Sirikoi Lodge taking the top spot as the world's best resort.

Located in the 62,000-acre Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Northern Kenya, Sirikoi Lodge was built by second-generation Kenyans and conservationists.

The resort features a main lodge, a three-bedroom house, and two-and four-bedroom tents, offering guests a range of activities including morning and evening game drives, bush walks, horseback rides, and fly fishing.

Other Kenyan resorts that made it to the top 50 list include Maasai Mara's Richard River camp, Meru National Park's Elewana Elsa's Kopje, and Nanyuki-based Ol Jogi Home.

The 32nd edition of the annual Choice Awards saw over 10,000 hotels, resorts, and spas rated by 600,000 well-traveled individuals.
