Published on October 13, 2019, a YouTube series called Living Big in a Tiny House featured a remarkable story of a couple who turned their dream of traveling the country into a reality.
Nicholas and Francesca, the couple behind the story, decided to downsize and create their shared dream home from scratch. After researching and purchasing a school bus, they gutted it and transformed it into a surprisingly spacious house, with detailed stonework and cohesive decor.
The entire house is 38 feet long and 7.5 feet wide, with a 20-inch raised roof, allowing for ample headroom. The driver's station is still intact, but when they're parked, they cover it up and turn the dashboard into a couch.
The bus features a 10-foot couch in the living room that unfolds into a massive guest bed, a kitchen with plenty of counter space, and a working fireplace that easily heats the entire unit during cold Colorado winters. The living room leads through to a shower room and toilet, and then the master bedroom.
Equipped with solar panels, an 80-gallon water tank, and a wood-burning stove, the bus allows the couple to live entirely off the grid. Nicholas jokes that the only time they need to 'come back to civilization' is to replenish their stores of food and water.
