On October 13, 2019, Kenyan athlete Brigid Kosgei made history by breaking the women's world marathon record at the Chicago Marathon.
With a time of 2 hours, 14 minutes and 04 seconds, Kosgei surpassed the previous record held by Britain's Paula Radcliffe, who had set a time of 2:15:25 on April 13, 2003 in London.
Not only did Kosgei break Radcliffe's record, but she also set a new course record, eclipsing Radcliffe's time of 2:17:18 set on October 13, 2002.
