Published on October 13, 2019, a Kakamega man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for defiling and infecting a 4-year-old girl with HIV.
According to the court judgment, the accused was found guilty of defiling the minor in 2017 at Lunza village in Butere sub-county.
The court heard that the accused lured the girl into his house, where he committed the heinous act. The girl's siblings later discovered her naked and crying uncontrollably, prompting them to raise an alarm that attracted a crowd.
The girl was rushed to Butere Sub-county Hospital, where it was confirmed that she had been defiled and infected with HIV.
After investigations and analysis of evidence, the Senior Resident Magistrate sentenced the accused to life imprisonment on the main count.
Justice William Musyoka dismissed the accused's appeal, stating that the prosecution evidence was strong and compelling.
