On the eve of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) elections, scheduled for December 7, 2019, allegations of rigging have surfaced. Current FKF president Nick Mwendwa is at the center of the controversy.

Former FKF president Sam Nyamweya and seasoned politician Moses Akaranga have accused Mwendwa of plotting to rig the elections. The Electoral Board, comprising Prof Edwin Wamukoya as chairman, has been approved by Fifa to conduct the exercise.

Akaranga claims that the board is not properly constituted, citing a violation of the Fifa Standard Electoral Code. He has called for Fifa's urgent intervention, warning that the football family in Kenya will peacefully protest if the code is not withdrawn.

Nyamweya has also accused Mwendwa of slowing down football development in the country and has asked him to be accountable. He has demanded an explanation for the loss of Sh135 million in a purported purchase of a moribund Outside Broadcasting (OB) Van.

Mwendwa has announced his intention to seek a second four-year term in office, while Nyamweya and Akaranga have indicated that they will challenge him if the process is 'free and fair'.
