On October 12, 2019, Eliud Kipchoge made history by becoming the first person to run a marathon in under 2 hours, completing the INEOS 1:59 Challenge in Vienna, Austria.

However, a tweet claiming that businessman Jimi Wanjigi had promised to deliver a private jet to Kipchoge before November 29, 2019, went viral on social media.

Speaking to Citizen TV, Wanjigi denied the claims, stating that the tweet was from a fake account and had nothing to do with him.

“It is a fake account, it has nothing to do with me but we are proud of Eliud Kipchoge for what he has done for the human race and for Kenya in particular,” Wanjigi told Citizen Digital on Saturday.

Wanjigi expressed his desire to meet the person behind the fake account, saying, “I actually want to meet the person behind the tweet over a cup of tea because his creativity has shaped conversations of Kenyans online.”
