Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Organising Secretary Ismail Chege has been suspended from his duties for two years, a decision made during the KVF National Executive Committee meeting on Saturday.

The suspension comes after a series of allegations and complaints from branch officials, which were brought to light during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in July in Nairobi.

According to a NEC official who attended the meeting, the decision to suspend Chege was long overdue, citing his poor public relations skills and favouritism in appointment of referees to handle matches in the leagues.

“After looking at all the accusations it was evident he is not in the right books not only with some branch officials, but also his public relations skill are wanting,” the official said.

Chege has been suspended for the second time, having previously been suspended in 2015 for alleged misappropriation of funds.

His deputy, John Oronje, has been elevated to the position in acting capacity until next year’s AGM, where a decision will be made to retain Oronje or appoint someone else.
