Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chairman Nick Mwendwa has been at the center of controversy ahead of the December polls. A group of aspirants, led by Moses Akaranga and former FKF chair Sam Nyamweya, have accused the current office of violating provisions of the FIFA standard electoral code.

According to the group, the current regulations cannot guarantee a free and fair election. They have threatened to boycott the nomination exercise, citing the appointment of Edwin Wamukoya as the chairman of the electoral board, despite his previous role as a member of the board that conducted the December 2015 elections.

The aspirants have also accused FKF of violating the electoral code by allowing the chairman and the national executive committee to nominate and appoint members of the FKF electoral board, who they claim lack integrity and credibility.

Meanwhile, Nyamweya has expressed concerns over the federation's handling of the Adel Amrouche situation, following the Court of Arbitration for Sports' award of Ksh108 Million to the former Harambee Stars head coach for wrongful dismissal.

The national elections are scheduled to take place on December 21st, with the branch polls kicking off the exercise on December 5th.
