On October 13, 2019, Credit Bank made history by being named the SME Bank of the Year in East Africa at the European Global Banking and Finance Awards 2019.
The European Global Banking and Finance Awards is an annual program that recognizes and celebrates achievements, innovation, and excellence in the corporate world.
As part of its efforts to support the growth of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Kenya, Credit Bank has established an Entrepreneurship Hub that provides businesses with the necessary tools and resources to become investor-ready.
The European Global Banking and Finance Awards recognized Credit Bank for its outstanding efforts in supporting SMEs in Kenya, as well as other organizations and individuals that have made significant contributions to their industries through good governance, innovation, and quality of service.
Other African banks that received awards include CRDB Bank, a Tanzanian bank that was named Bank of the Year, as well as Innovation in Financial Inclusion and Social Responsibility Bank of the Year in East Africa.
Recently, Credit Bank was funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB) for onward lending to SMEs, as well as Oiko Credit through a 1 Billion buyout structure. The loans will be accessed by companies in the construction, agriculture, renewable energy, and manufacturing sectors.
