On October 13, 2019, a devastating tragedy occurred at the Likoni Ferry in Kenya, resulting in the loss of Mariam Kighenda and her 4-year-old daughter Amanda Mutheu. The incident has sparked intense speculation, with some claiming that Mariam may have intentionally driven their car into the Indian Ocean.

However, Mariam's husband, John Wambua, has vehemently denied these claims, urging the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Speaking to NTV, Wambua pointed out that the car was in parking mode and the handbrake was engaged when it plunged into the ocean, making it highly unlikely that Mariam could have intentionally driven it into the water.

Wambua described his late wife as a kind and hardworking person who would go out of her way to help others. He also shared fond memories of her, highlighting her jovial nature and strong faith.

As the family awaits the post-mortem results, they are preparing to lay Mariam and Amanda to rest in Makueni. Wambua's appeal for a speedy investigation serves as a reminder of the need for transparency and accountability in such tragic incidents.

“I would not want to conclude what really happened, I’m only asking the police to investigate this matter,” Wambua stated.
