Eliud Kipchoge Makes History, Receives Praise and Gifts

On October 12, 2019, Eliud Kipchoge made history by becoming the first human to run a marathon in under two hours, completing the INEOS 1:59 Challenge in 1:59:40.02 at Prater Park in Vienna, Austria.

Kenya celebrated Kipchoge's achievement, with many people expressing their admiration and pride in the marathoner. Companies and individuals have come forward with gifts and awards for Kipchoge, recognizing his historic achievement.

Some of the gifts and awards Kipchoge has received include:

  • Businessman Manu Chandaria pledged KSh 10 million to repair roofs of schools chosen by Kipchoge.
  • Isuzu East Africa managing director Rita Kavashe announced that the vehicle manufacturer will award Kipchoge a brand new Isuzu pickup.
  • Retirement solutions provider, County Pension Fund (CPF), offered KSh 1.5 million towards his retirement savings.
  • Uasin Gishu county announced plan to name one of the streets of Eldoret town after the 34-year-old athlete.

Kipchoge's achievement has earned him a significant amount of money, with reports indicating that he may push his total earnings close to the one billion mark.
