On October 12, 2019, Embakasi East legislator Babu Owino took to his Facebook page to advise Jubilee aspirant McDonald Mariga to quit the Kibra by-election.

The move comes after Mariga's campaign in Kibra turned chaotic, with a rowdy crowd stoning Mariga's campaign team vehicle on Saturday morning.

According to Babu, he had previously warned Mariga against seeking the seat, saying 'a fly that does not listen to advice is buried with the corpse.'

He urged Mariga to back off the race and live to fight another day, citing the example of Eluid Kipchoge, who plans his races well.

Babu's advice was given in a bid to maintain peace in the area, saying 'the goat that broke the drum of Kibra people is paying with the skin.'
