On Friday, October 12, 2019, Nairobi City Stars secured a narrow 1-0 win over APS Bomet at Camp Toyoyo grounds, solidifying their position at the top of the National Super League.
This victory marked the team's eighth win, bringing their total points to 22, a five-point gap ahead of second-placed Nairobi Stima, who edged FC Talanta 1-0 in an earlier match at the same venue.
Stima currently has 17 points, while Bidco United dropped to third after a 0-0 draw with Administration Police.
Elsewhere, Vihiga United, aiming for an immediate return to the Kenyan Premier League, defeated Kibera Black Stars 2-0 at Mumias Sports Complex in Kakamega.
Speaking after the match, City Stars assistant coach John Amboko expressed the team's goal of qualifying for the next season's KPL.
"The boys have vowed to continue working hard and win matches," Amboko said, adding that the team has started preparing for their next fixture against Nairobi Stima on Wednesday.
They expect the encounter to be explosive," Amboko said.
