On October 5, 2019, the news of Adelaide Khalwale's passing sent shockwaves across the nation, with many expecting the former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale to be in attendance at her burial.

However, a photo posted by former State House Digital Director Dennis Itumbi on October 12, 2019, left many wondering if Khalwale had indeed traveled to Vienna to witness Eliud Kipchoge's INEOS 1:59 marathon challenge, accompanied by Deputy President William Ruto.

The photo, which showed DP Ruto, Khalwale, and Kenya's ambassador to Austria Robinson Githae walking past signage at Vienna International Airport, sparked a heated debate among Kenyans, with many questioning Khalwale's whereabouts on the day of his wife's burial.

As Eliud Kipchoge took on the challenge of running a 42-kilometer marathon in under two hours, many were left wondering if Khalwale had indeed traveled to Vienna, leaving his wife's burial behind.
