On October 12, 2019, Eliud Kipchoge made history by becoming the first human to run a marathon in under two hours, completing the INEOS challenge in Vienna, Austria, in 1:59:40.

Uasin Gishu County Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has announced plans to dedicate a street in Eldoret town to Kipchoge, citing his achievement as a source of joy for the county.

"We will name a street in honour of (Eliud) Kipchoge because he has brought a lot of joy to our county," Chemno told Citizen Digital.

Chemno also urged the national government to expedite the construction works on the incomplete Kipchoge Keino stadium, stating that the county is working on the 64 Stadium.
