On Saturday, a shooting at a social club in Brooklyn's Crown Heights neighborhood left four men dead and at least three others wounded, according to police.
The motive behind the shooting was not immediately clear, and a suspect had not been identified as of Saturday.
Police received calls about shots fired at 6:55 a.m. at 74 Utica Avenue, a location that matched a private social club, according to local reports.
Four men were pronounced dead at the scene, and two men and a woman were left with gunshot wounds, but their identities were not released.
The shooting occurred in a neighborhood that has seen a spike in gang violence, with Crown Heights experiencing a rash of gang-related shootings earlier this year.
According to police records, the number of people wounded or killed in shootings in the 77th Precinct, which covers northern Crown Heights, had nearly doubled over the previous year, rising to 26 from 14 through October 6.
The social club had been the subject of complaints, including one in November 2008 that stated the first floor of the residential property was being used as commercial space, specifically a men's club.
On Saturday, police officials were seen at the scene, and forensic investigators were collecting evidence from the social club, which had a purple sign reading 'Triple A Aces Private & Social Event Space Food Fun and Entertainment.'
