Uhuru Congratulates Eliud Kipchoge on Historic Marathon Win

On October 12, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta took to Twitter to congratulate Eliud Kipchoge on his historic marathon win, where he became the first man to run a marathon in under two hours.

According to the President, Kipchoge's achievement has made Kenya proud and set a precedent for future generations. He expressed his pride in Kipchoge's win, saying it will inspire tens of future generations to dream big and aspire for greatness.

Earlier on Friday, President Kenyatta had called Kipchoge on phone to wish him success during the INEOS 1:59 challenge. Kipchoge ran a staggering 1:59:40, shattering the mythical sub-two marathon barrier as he completed the INEOS Challenge in majestic fashion on the streets of Vienna.

Deputy President William Ruto was among spectators who witnessed Eliud Kipchoge make history. Ruto congratulated the marathon ace for the epic win, saying Kipchoge's achievement is a historic one and has made him arguably the greatest runner of all time.
