On October 12, 2019, Deputy President William Ruto and Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed joined thousands of Kenyans in watching Eliud Kipchoge's historic INEOS Challenge in Vienna, Austria.
As Kipchoge attempted to run the marathon in under two hours, Ruto and Mohamed watched the event live from different locations in the country.
At the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Mohamed joined Nairobi residents as they followed the developments in the Austrian capital. Baringo Senator Gideon Moi was also in attendance.
Meanwhile, in Eldoret, a huge crowd gathered at the Uganda Road Junction to watch the event on a giant TV screen. Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi was among the leaders who joined the locals in watching the event.
Kipchoge, supported by 41 pace setters, aimed to lower his record of 2:00:25 set in Monza, Italy, as he attempted to run the race in 1 hour 59 seconds.
